PBDC-HBO

If you haven't been following The Panel Biter's DC Cinematic Universe (PBDC) I'll remind you that these posts are indications of how I-The Panel Biter-would structure a cinematic DC Universe of films and television programs by integrating rebooted projects and rearranging current DC media properties. Since Marvel Studios is intertwined with Netflix, I thought if DC was to have short series based on their characters they could be streamed off of HBO (HBO Go or HBO Now). These are some HBO comic book series ideas.

We'll start with "Static", a series exploring the origins of a teenager in North Dakota who struggles with gang violence, drug addicts, race riots and corrupt police, add to that an event that gives the teenager superpowers and allows him to become the urban superhero, Static. This show would heavily focus on real world issues while making strives for the superhero TV genre. This show could also introduce Mr. Terrific, a character who will appear in many future film pitches. By the end of the series, Static would have his signature costume and be in touch with other teenaged superheroes.
Speaking of young heroes, "Grayson" would come next. This series would chronicle the career of Dick Grayson following the death of his parents. It would begin with his career at Robin, his apprenticing under Batman, and his relationship with Barbara Gordon/Batgirl. Later viewers would see the falling out between Robin and Batman and Dick quitting the superhero gig, only to fully return as Nightwing after Barbara is shot and paralyzed. He'd share adventures with Jason Todd, and later team up with Tim Drake after morning over Jason's death. The end of the series would show Nightwing assembling The Titans, who would get their own television series.
From Grayson to Gordon, our next HBO series would be "Birds of Prey" starring Barbara Gordon/Oracle as the team's guide, Black Canary (from Arrow/Green Arrow), Huntress (also from Arrow/Green Arrow), Batgirl and Spoiler (both from PBDC films). Special appearances by Zatanna, Lady Blackhawk, Katana and Misfit would also be included as this team of fem-fatales follow a superpower drug ring all over the world. This show would be heavy on action and drama, but drive on its diverse cast of heroes.
Another team series would be "Shadowpact", a show based of Justice League Dark and spinning off of the "Constantine" show. Featuring John Constantine, Zatanna, Deadman, Swamp Thing, Animal Man, Etrigan the Demon and Madame Xanadu, this team of mystics would tackle the evil behind the curtains, dealing with problems the Justice League would never notice. Along the way they'd discover more about each other as well as the secret world of mystics that hide from the DCU.
The next team you might have heard of, "Suicide Squad". Ran by Argus agent Amanda Waller, this team of criminals would be forced onto missions to protect the country. The team would begins with Deadshot, Harley Quinn, Parasite, Killer Frost (from The Flash), Captain Boomerang (also from The Flash) and The Cheetah (from Wonder Woman II). As the name alludes, many members would die and be replaced later on, keeping the team constantly changing and adjusting.
"Godiva of Spyril" stars a British superhuman codenamed Godiva. With her power of metamorphic hair, Godiva works for Spyril, an undercover agency that protects superhumans from enemy organizations. Joining her would be Agent K/Kate Kale (from a future Batman film) and Spyril's director Mister Minos. This show would feature more obscure heroes like Elongated Man, Tasmanian Devil, Crimson Fox, Plastic Man, Stargirl & Stripe, and many others being either under Godiva's watch or under her boot.
"Takion" follows a blind psychiatrist who discovers he is actually the creation of The Highfather, lord of the New Gods. With his powers surfacing, he is revealed to be Takion, a New God with a connection to "The Source" and of great importance to all of reality. Along with this character learning of his true design, other characters like Kyle Rayner and the Forever People would get their own arcs and aid Takion in his battle against the evil Darkseid's minions.
Finally, there would be "Rebels", a show that presents a government called LEGION taking over various planets. Vril Dox/Brainiac 2 (the android offspring of Brainiac), Lobo (intergalactic bounty hunter), Strata (ex-LEGION officer), Alanna Strange (Rannian scientist), Kanjar Ro (space pirate and escapee of the GLC), and Blackfire (former princess of Tamaran) are rallied together by a united hatred for LEGION and agree to an unlikely alliance to take the system down. This show would be the most based, covering many sides of DC's cosmic characters and stories.
These series would be spread out through the PBDC and fill in some holes between films. If "Marvel's Daredevil" is any indication, even a twelve-episode series can do a better job than a film. I hope you enjoyed this HBO collection pitch, thanks for reading!
