Hulk Through Time

I don't often pitch ideas for The Marvel Cinematic Universe, mainly because they have everything laid out before I can even get an idea going, but I think I'd be hitting a creative nerve if I suggested a film adaptation of one of The Hulk's most notorious stories, Future Imperfect (call it either "Hulk: The Last Avenger" or "Hulk: Future Imperfect")
Future Imperfect is essentially a story in which a nuclear fallout kills all of the MCU's heroes and villains, but Bruce Banner/The Hulk-who's minds are one at that time-designs a device to save a portion of Earth's population. Over the course of a hundred years, The Hulk becomes The Maestro, the undisputed ruler of the last city on Earth, Dystopia. As the mad ruler, Maestro is threatened by a resistance force that uses time travel technology to bring Banner/Hulk to the future to defeat The Maestro. Now many fans of Marvel have begged for a movie based on "Planet Hulk", but the problem with that story is that it's far too focused on just the Hulk and just the Hulk fighting stuff. Future Imperfect would not only offer a story that exaggerates the danger The Hulk presents, but it can also be adjusted to show Bruce Banner's reaction to being "The Last Avenger".
Like I said, somethings would have to be changed. For example, time travel was achieved in the original story through Doctor Doom's time machine. Since Doom is busy being whipped by 20th Century Fox, why not introduce The Time Gem, one of the Infinity Gems which I'm sure will appear in an upcoming Marvel movie. Additionally it can be set fifty years in the future. Instead of robotic dogs patrolling Dystopia, maybe The Maestro reprogrammed Jarvis/The Vision into a patrol droid. If Jen Walters/She-Hulk and Thunderbolt Ross/Red Hulk are already introduced by then, The Maestro could have drained them of their gamma radiation and given them lives of luxury to keep them contempt. In this version, Bruce and Hulk can still be separate personalities, that way the existence of The Maestro would deter Bruce from becoming the Hulk even further and audiences wouldn't be upset by Bruce's resistance to change because The Maestro would be constantly in Hulk form. Being around The Maestro in this strange future could drive Bruce into inevitably synchronizing with The Hulk and becoming a more logical version of The Hulk. One of the big elements of Future Imperfect is a trophy room filled with memorabilia of the heroes of before. To name a few for a film adaptation: Cap's shield, Hawkeye's bow, a few of Iron Man's armors, Mjolnir, Spider-Man's mask, Ant-Man's helmet, the Infinity Gauntlet, Dr. Strange's cape, Black Panther's necklace, Captain Marvel's sash, and many more easter eggs. This room would be owned by Rick Jones. Rick was the kid Bruce Banner saved from the gamma bomb that turned him into the Hulk in the original comics, Rick served as The Hulk's only friend. Because the MCU plays the Hulk's origin different, Rick Jones could have been a toddler who The Hulk saved and ever since became obsessed with chronicling superheroes. Of course the big blockbuster fight between The Hulk and Maestro would take place in the superhero trophy room, with the Hulks using various weapons and tools, like Cap's shield and the Hulkbuster armor. Powerful scenes like Bruce being seduced by one of The Maestro's slaves-who looks like Betty Ross-could be much more emotionally effective with actors in the part. The Maestro's defeat would need to change, perhaps with Bruce/Hulk giving up his chance to cure his gamma condition and using the cure on Maestro, turning him into an elderly Bruce Banner and dying happily of old age, expressing the powerful psychology of The Hulk. Bruce/Hulk can then take the bodies of old Rick Jones-who was killed by Maestro-and the old Bruce Banner and bury them with the heroes who died in the nuclear fallout. Using the Time Gem, Banner/Hulk would return to the present with a new outlook on how The Hulk should operate and the knowledge that one day he may be cured.
As explained by The Maestro in the film and by myself now, time travel would work in alternate paths for this film. This would be the first Marvel Cinematic film to deal with time travel so I think making it a future that "could be" would be easy to understand. Even if Bruce/Hulk leaves that Dystopian future, it would still exist after his leaving and prosper without The Maestro's rule. Plus, the event of Hulk and Banner melding into one makes it easier to write Bruce's character in future films, you know like "Planet Hulk" and "World War Hulk" which feature The Hulk being intelligent. Well, here's your start for that change.
I hope you liked this pitch, with Marvel Studios being in some entanglement with the Hulk film license I can't expect this would be a reality, but I can always hope as this story is probably the best solo film that's fit Bruce/Hulk. Thanks for reading and Happy Celebration September.
