Rasputin Facts

Let's see how much of a Colossus Fan you really are! Here are One Dozen Colossus Facts!
1. Despite his super strength and invulnerable metal body, Piotr "Peter" Rasputin is gentle, quiet, and is reluctant to resort to violence. He is also a talented artist.

2. Colossus has had a long-standing relationship with Kitty Pryde/Shadowcat. In 1985, Marvel Editor-and-chief Jim Shooter urged for the relationship to be broken because Kitty was 13 and Colossus was 19. It just so happened that writers didn't consider the ages of the characters. Kitty and Colossus reunited in the early 2000's when Kitty was an appropriate age.

3. In 2006, it was revealed Colossus is a descendant of Grigori Rasputin-an 1800's/1900's mystic with a significant place in Russian history.

4. Colossus has two siblings. His older brother Mikhail was asked to fake his death by the Russian government who toyed with his dimensional traveling powers. Due to his travels throughout the universe, Mikhail has psychological issues and has become a tragic villain as a result. Colossus' sister-Illyana Rasputin-was kidnapped and raised by a demon in the dimension of Limbo. It was there she discovered her mutant power of magic manipulation. When she returned to join her brother and The X-Men, she used the name Magik.

5. During "Avengers vs X-Men", The Phoenix Force possessed five X-Men members. Along with Cyclops, Emma Frost, Namor, and his sister Magik, Colossus acquired The Phoenix Force.

6. Colossus had a cameo in "X-Men", played by Donald Mackinnon. Daniel Cudmore played Colossus in "X2", "X-Men: The Last Stand", and "X-Men: Days of Future Past". However, he declined to return in "Deadpool" and instead Stefan Kapicic voiced the character while Andre Tricoteux and T. J. Storm did motion capture for Colossus.

7. Colossus' "organic metal" is one-of-a-kind. The closest thing to Colossus' metal is Osmium. While in his metal form, Colossus does not need to eat, drink, or breath oxygen. Even without his metal body, Colossus has trained in martial arts with Wolverine and Cyclops, and sword-fighting and acrobatics with Nightcrawler.

8. In the Earth X reality, Colossus has become a Tsar in Russia and provides his country with resources. It is hinted that this version of Colossus would become the next Mr. Sinister.

9. In Marvel's Ultimate Universe, Colossus was a Russian mob enforcer and gun smuggler before The X-Men liberated him. In this universe he is also gay.

10. Illyana Rasputin was killed by The Legacy Virus, a mutant allegory for AIDS. Beast later found a cure for The Legacy Virus. However, a mutant would have to inject it, die from it's effects, and only then could it be airborne and cure other mutants. Not wanting to wait for a better solution, Colossus refused his friend's pleads and sacrificed himself to cure The Legacy Virus.

11. Colossus and Wolverine have a combo maneuver they perform called "The Fastball Special". His Korean clone performed this with a Korean Wolverine clone within the pages of a Deadpool story. During 2015's "Secret Wars", Colossus performed the move with The Hulk. The interesting thing about performing it with The Hulk is that-because The Hulk is larger-Colossus was the one who was thrown.

12. During "Fear Itself", The Juggernaut was given an Asgardian weapon. This weapon allowed the spirit of an evil Asgardian to possess The Juggernaut. In order to defeat him, Colossus communicated with Cyttorak. Cytorrak is the other-dimensional being who's crystal gave Cain Marko the ability to become The Juggernaut. Colossus agreed to take the crystal and become Cyttorak's new avatar so that he could defeat the possessed Juggernaut. After defeating him, Colossus remained the new Juggernaut until after "Avengers vs X-Men".
