Robin Facts

Are you a fan of Damian Wayne? Well, here are One Dozen Robin Facts!
1. Damian Wayne is the son of Bruce Wayne/Batman and Talia al Ghul. His grandfather is Ra's al Ghul, one of Batman's deadliest foes. Raised for ten years by Ra's, Talia, and The League of Assassins, Damian is the deadliest mortal child on Earth. His intelligence, fighting capabilities, and ambition has helped him fight Batman's regular rogues gallery, members of The Teen Titans, other Batman allies, and even Michelangelo, Donatello, and Casey Jones from "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles".

2. When he was created by Grant Morrison in 2006, Damian was met with heavy dislike by readers. It was not only Damian's overall attitude, but it was also the fact that the Robin who came before him-Tim Drake-had been Robin for about twenty-five years in the publication. Tim had appeared in cartoons, was the first Robin to have his own solo book, and for almost three generations of comic book readers was "the Robin". Since Damian's development in 2011's "Batman & Robin", his death and revival in 2013, his solo book "Robin: Son of Batman" in 2016, and his inclusion in 2017's "Teen Titans" and "Super Sons", the character has become more bearable and has acquired his own fan-base.

3. Unlike most characters in comic books, Damian's age has actually been recorded throughout his appearances. He was ten when he first showed up in 2006, and in 2017 he celebrated his 13th birthday.

4. Like Jason Todd, Damian has no issues with killing. This is because he was raised as an assassin. While Nightwing may be trained in eskrima sticks and Red Robin is trained in the bo staff, Damian commonly uses a sword. While he does not kill anymore, he constantly uses his past to imply he still can kill.

5. Damian spent a short time training under Nobody/Henri Ducard. Ducard was a mercenary who trained Bruce Wayne before Bruce became Batman. Under his tutoring, Damian almost resorted to his murdering ways, but ultimately allied with his father again and killed Ducard and swearing Ducard would be the last life he'd take. After Ducard died, his daughter Maya sought revenge on Damian and eventually became his friend instead.

6. Damian's pets include his dog Titus, his unnamed cat, his farm cow named Batcow, and his bat demon Goliath. During Damian's training under Ra's al Ghul, he was sent on a mission to slay a pack of bat demons. He did as he was told, but sparred the youngest bat demon and took him home. Over the years, Damian raised this bat demon in secretary until recruiting this creature-Goliath-into his road to redemption.

7. Damian was murdered by his own enhanced clone-known as The Heretic-during the second volume of "Batman Inc.". He was revived the same year when Batman used an alien artifact called The Chaos Shard-that had been charged with Darkseid's Omega Sanction-to bring Damian back to life. Once revived, Damian developed superpowers like super strength, super speed, flight, and invulnerability. While this change made some interesting interactions between Damian, Batman, and The Justice League, his powers eventually faded away and were never mentioned again.

8. The son of Batman and Talia al Ghul has appeared in various forms over the years before appearing the main DCU in 2006. In 1995's "Brotherhood of The Bat", Tallant Wayne becomes Batman to battle Ra's al Ghul and again in 2001's "League of The Batmen". "Kingdom Come" in 1996 introduced Ibn al Xu'ffasch-which means "Son of the Bat"-who murdered Ra's al Ghul and joined his father's crusade. Ibn also falls in love with Nightwing and Starfire's daughter Nightstar.

9. Damian's very first appearance was as an unnamed baby featured in the back-up stories of 1987's "Batman: Son of The Demon".

10. Ra's al Ghul's name translates from Arabic into "The Demon's Head". This implies the Al Ghul Family is Arabic in heritage or, at least, in upbringing.

11. Damian's mother Talia has been the on-and-off ally/enemy of Batman, a former lover to both Bane and Jason Todd, a member of The Secret Society of Super-Villains, and-under the assumed name Talia Head-the CEO of Lexcorp during the time Lex Luthor was the US President.

12. Despite being his son, Damian's career as a superhero did not begin beside his father. When Batman was assumed dead after "Final Crisis" in 2006, Dick Grayson (the first Robin, former Nightwing) took up the Batman mantle to avoid it falling into the wrong hands. Dick agreed to let Damian be "the Robin to his Batman". This created an interesting flip where Batman was chipper, and Robin was brooding. Their partnership would establish Dick and Damian as brothers and respected peers. While Damian has grown to respect Jason Todd and Tim Drake, Dick Grayson was the first ally of Batman that Damian respected.
