The Big DC 50 (Part 1)

Warner Bros. has no idea what potential they have. The entire DC Comics Universe and they want to make eight Batman-related films? Lazy as lazy can get. So, I wanted to flex my comic-related muscles by presenting a few ideas of what DC properties could be films. A few being fifty. Two rules: No films that have already been announced and no films involving Batman or starring Batman characters, excluding team films. Here we go:

Adam Strange
The classic tale of a man on a new world. Adam is an Earth scientist who discovers instant teleportation and gets himself stranded on Planet Rann, a world at war with another alien world. He falls in love, gets a jetpack and a laser blaster, and has retro sci-fi adventures. Update Flash Gordon and you have this character. And he's Canadian.

Amethyst
High-fantasy action with a beautiful, yet naive, girl from our world. She's tossed into this fantasy world-Gemworld-where her mother is revealed to be the Queen. She has to use strange crystal magic and her swords and sorcery to save the kingdom from a dark wizard.

Animal Man
What looks like a generic superhero film is actually an insane body-horror as the main hero can morph his body into the body parts of different animals. He's connected to a life-spanning force called The Red which bonds all living things. Animal Man once even battled his own comic book writer, if you're not convinced of his crazy adventures.

The Atom
Screw Marvel, just make a film about a scientist who explores the Microverse. The Atom once lived in a South American forest because there were microscopic aliens living there in tribes. Do that. His wife turns into a psychopath, he has a young Asian student, the guy can rearrange matter for crying out loud.

Birds of Prey
"Charlie's Angels" but with superheroes. Black Canary to hook those "Arrow" fans, Huntress is a sexier Punisher, and Barbara Gordon who-goddamn it-should be The Oracle. Nobody is impressed by Batgirl, but a woman in a wheelchair on that hacker duty? Leading the team? Yes. Three badass chicks saving the world and looking good while doing it.

The Blackhawks
A World War II squad of pilots who come from different countries and have differing personalities, but come together for their shared hatred of evil. You can cameo old-school characters like Sgt. Rock and The Unknown Soldier and The Haunted Tank. Yes, a Haunted Tank. It'd be like "Top Gun" and "Saving Private Ryan" and be a fun twist on the WWII genre.

Blue Beetle
Not Dan Garrett. Not Ted Kord. Jaime Reyes. Alien morphing suit with a kill-happy A.I. and awesome weapons. The suit comes from an evil alien race called The Reach, so alien invasion plot. Jaime has to constantly resist the suit's tendency to kill. Also his family knows about the suit, he can't take it off, Ted Kord could mentor him, and he's "an average student". And he's Mexican.
Booster Gold
A celebrity superhero from the future who comes back in time to make himself famous. He can fly, shoot lasers, and has a super-smart robot buddy named Skeets. He advertises fast food chains and sells cars and cereal on TV. He makes a big deal of himself and is obnoxiously charming. Great chance to satire the idea of a superhero, the film could also feature Ted Kord as a gadgetry Blue Beetle.

Captain Atom
Former soldier who is changed by alien technology into a being with metal skin and insides made of pure energy. Cap can create any type of energy: Solar, radioactive, heat-based, ionic, microwaves, X-rays, even Red Sun and Kryptonite radiation. He could the U.S. government's answer to Superman, their own military-based superhero with the powers of a God. He can time travel and rearrange matter. He's way more powerful than you'd think, so powerful he was the inspiration for Dr. Manhattan. Have him be the living allegory for the nuclear weapon paranoia.

Deadman
A former circus trapeze artist who performed death-defying stunts until he was killed by a criminal. Now as a ghost and servant of a Hindu Goddess he protects a city in Nepal and seeks his own killer. He can possess bodies and phase through walls and can't be seen. You can have this dark comedy about a freaky looking ghost trying to find his killer by hopping into people's bodies and constantly arguing with a Hindu Goddess.

What's next? Stay tuned.
Thanks for reading.
