Jen Facts

Are you a fan of The Sensational She-Hulk? Well, we got One Dozen She-Hulk Facts for you!
1. The reason behind She-Hulk's creation was the 1970's TV series "The Bionic Woman". This show was a spin-off the show "The Six Million Dollar Man", around the same time the ratings for "The Incredible Hulk" TV show were lowering and Marvel Comics feared the showmakers were going to create a female Hulk character to match the success of The Bionic Woman. Marvel decided they would create a female Hulk first, that way if the showmakers created their own they would not own the TV rights themselves and profit solely for the character.

2. She-Hulk was created in 1980 by Stan Lee and John Buscema. She was Stan Lee's last creation until 1992 when he returned briefly to create a character called Ravage.

3. Jennifer Walters was the cousin of Bruce Banner. Jen's father was a police officer and became the target of organized crime. Around that time Bruce was visiting and was able to donate blood after Jen was shot by mobsters. The blood transfusion left Jen with the ability to turn into a Hulk herself without losing her sanity like Bruce. After this she began a career as a lawyer and as the superhero She-Hulk.

4. In 1989 She-Hulk got her second solo series written and drawn by John Bryne for a majority of it's run. In this series She-Hulk would be one of the first Marvel characters to break the 4th Wall. She would walk across advertisement pages to get to the next page in the comic, tear a page open to skip a scene, she constantly complained to John Bryne and talked with the book's editor Renee Witterstaetter about finding a new writer. She-Hulk's style of story awareness would carry onto characters like Howard The Duck, Loki, Mephisto, and, of course, Deadpool.

5. The 89' book also pushed the boundaries of The Comics Code of Authority as She-Hulk was always shown in revealing attire. One issue referenced an issue of "Vanity Fair" with a cover of Demi Moore pregnant and naked. Another issue depicted She-Hulk jump-roping naked with the blur lines covering her naughty bits. The book was also a source of female empowerment in the early 90's as the main character was incredibly strong, usually single, and very confident in her appearance.

6. She-Hulk has worked for The Heroes For Hire, SHIELD, The Initiative and The Hulkbusters. She has also been a Defender, an Avenger of multiple Avengers teams, and has subbed for The Thing on The Fantastic Four. She was also a member of a second Fantastic Four with Ant-Man, Medusa, and She-Thing.

7. In 2008, Lyra, the daughter of The Hulk and Thundra's daughter from an alternate timeline, appears in the 616 Marvel Universe and took the name She-Hulk. She got a four-issue miniseries, was a member The Defenders and Avengers Academy and shared a kiss with Norman Osborn. Unlike most Hulks, Lyra got weaker the angrier she got.

8. Despite her career as a lawyer, Jen has only battled Matt Murdock/Daredevil in court once or twice.

9. In 2016, She-Hulk was beaten into a coma by Thanos. By the time she woke up, her cousin Bruce was killed by Hawkeye to prevent The Hulk from attacking the world's heroes. As a result, Jen's She-Hulk form became gray, uncontrollable, and causing extreme pain to her when she transforms. This is because her source of anger has focused on her cousin's death and her friend's betrayal.

10. She-Hulk has the honor of being the strongest human woman in the Marvel Universe, when emotionally stable. Depending on the situation, anger and fear can either increase or decrease her physical strength. She has overpowered Hercules, The Champion of The Universe, The Thing, and Wonder Man. After losing against The Champion, Jen went through physical training in her human form which resulted in her Hulk form being stronger.

11. In the early 1990's, Larry Cohen was going to make a She-Hulk film starring Bridgett Nielson, but the film was never fully made. Only a waist-up shot of Nielson as She-Hulk has been shown.

12. She-Hulk's relationships include Thanos' brother Enos/Starfox, she married J. Jonah Jameson's son John Jameson, Iron Man, Luke Cage, she shared a kiss with Iron Fist, she made a pass at Wolverine, and the secret agent known Clay Quartermain. Many Marvel characters have shunned She-Hulk for apparently sleeping with The Juggernaut twice, but she denies it every time. As it would happen, The Juggernaut slept with a She-Hulk from another reality and the rumor spread with details left out. She-Hulk had a long-time crush on Hercules, as well. At first she denied him due to his piggish nature, but years later they hooked up.
