Metals of Honor

"The Metal Men"
Doctor William Magnus: The world's most advanced mind, mastered in theoretical mathematics, mechanical engineering, and particle physics now reduced to a mad scientist living as a fugitive in the nation of Bialya under the guise "Veridium". He sleeps in a shack, with nothing but the clothes on his back and the metal spheres in his pockets. He watches a world fold over, men in masks and capes fight aliens above the Earth's skies and the governments try their hardest to control them. But Magnus knows you can't control power, you can only guide it. In his feverish dreams we learn the origin of Will Magnus and The Metal Men.
After an event the US agency Argus called "K Day" General Wade Eiling and Private Clifford Zmeck are assigned to recruit aspiring scientist Will Magnus into Argus. Eiling uses the destruction of K Day to motivate Magnus into creating robotic soldiers. Magnus wants to create these robots to participate in search and rescue missions regular soldiers cannot, but Eiling has other ideas. Through government funding, Magnus creates "metal hearts" and uses them to bond pools of metals into humanoid shapes, granting each shape a sentient programming. To Eiling and Zmeck these six robots are tools, but to Magnus they are full grown personalities: Gold is charming and egotistical, Iron is silent and intimidating, Lead is dense and clumsy, Mercury is snarky and disobedient, Tin is skittish and frail, and Platinum is friendly and loyal. Magnus deems his new friends "The Metal Men" and studies their abilities to transform and work together, he even notices he too is developing a kinship with his creations. After Magnus finds out Eiling wants to use The Metal Men as super-soldiers, he fakes the malfunction of the Metal Men and is fired from the project. Eiling can tell Magnus was lying and sends soldiers to Magnus' apartment where the Metal Men are staying.
While Magnus returns to the labs to secretly recover his notes, he is attacked by Zmeck. The Metal Men show up, claiming to be chased by soldiers and they escape with the notes, but don't account for one draft of the "metal hearts". The next bit of the movie would show Magnus and The Metal Men crossing the border to Mexico, a plan criticized by Mercury. Along the way, Magnus would use the Metal Men as tools to help people, also avoiding Argus soldiers. Zmeck follows Magnus' trail, but Eiling grows envious of Magnus' robots and finds the "metal heart" draft. After Argus scientists recreate the "metal heart" they intend to create their own Metal Men, but Eiling-yet again-has a different idea. Magnus receives a message from Eiling and is lured back to his labs in Massachusetts. Eiling claims he'll stop the chase for The Metal Men if Magnus turns himself in. Realizing civilians could be caught in the middle of the chase, Magnus orders his Metal Men to flee the country while he turns himself in. Platinum reminds The Metal Men that Magnus is one of them and they go after Magnus just as Eiling orders Zmeck to prep Magnus for surgery.
Eiling plans on turning Magnus into a human Metal Man with the "metal heart" and forcing him to be Argus' super-soldier, but The Metal Men stop the operation. In a struggle, Zmeck drops the "metal heart" into a vat of acid and accidentally creates a giant acidic monster named Chemo. As The Metal Men fight Chemo, Magnus guilts Eiling and Zmeck into helping him. Eiling and his troops evacuate citizens from the city while Magnus and Zmeck dig through the lab for a "metal heart" failsafe prototype. The Metal Men-while able to protect the civilians-begin losing their battle, and Zmeck leaves Magnus for dead when Chemo comes back to the lab seeking his creator. Magnus is shielded by The Metal Men and they tell him it's okay to use the failsafe even if it shuts them down, too. Tears in his eyes, Magnus activates the failsafe and sends a frequency out to shut down all the "metal hearts". Chemo's acidic body reject the "metal heart" and the heart is melted while it evaporates the acid. Magnus is surrounded by his dying friends, shares a kiss with Platinum, and escapes the city with the disabled hearts. Argus Officials believe Chemo's acid-flooding death possibly killed Magnus and The Metal Men, but Eiling believes otherwise.
We jump back to present day William Magnus as he is visited by a young Bialyian girl who gives him a bag of batteries and asks if they're enough. Using electronics and tools he's collected along his journey, Will Magnus finally restarts the "metal hearts" and brings The Metal Men back to life, laughing in joy as they smother him and joke of how old he looks and how his new smoking habit needs to fixed. Mercury comments on how stupid it was for Magnus to surrender in the first place, but quickly wags it off to express his happiness. Will Magnus and The Metal Men live again, ready to help whoever they can, whenever they can.
An after credits scene shows Major Clifford Zmeck bedridden being visited by Eiling, apparently the dormant exposure to Chemo put Zmeck into life support, but Eiling says they may have a way to fix him. "Project Atom" is in the development and Zmeck is tasked with selected other participants from a list. Before he leaves, Eiling tells Zmeck that Magnus is at it again and that one day Zmeck might have his chance to reapply force.
I hope you enjoyed the first movie pitch for Phase 3. Thanks for reading!
