Pool Facts

Lets see how much of a fan of The Merc With a Mouth you really are! Here's One Dozen Deadpool Facts!
1. Rob Liefeld based Deadpool's design off of the DC Comic's villain Deathstroke and even gave him the name "Wade Wilson" in reference to Deathstroke's name "Slade Wilson".

2. Deadpool is a fan of Mexican cuisine-especially Chimichangas-and can speak Spanish, German, Japanese, and American Sign Language. Deadpool is also a proud Canadian citizen like his close friend Wolverine.

3. In 1997, Deadpool got his first solo series written by Joe Kelly. Kelly expected the book to last about five issues before it'd be cancelled so he decided to make the book a comedy series and include in-jokes about Marvel Comic's characters. Joe even introduced Deadpool's habit of breaking the fourth wall. Without intending it, Joe Kelly established the modern characteristics for Deadpool.

4. Deadpool's team memberships include Weapon X, The X-Men, X-Force, SHIELD, The Heroes For Hire, The Thunderbolts, and The Uncanny Avengers. He has also lead The Deadpool Corps, a team consisting of Deadpools from other dimensions. He has recently founded The Mercs For Money after Luke Cage threatened to sue him if he used "The Heroes For Hire" title.

5. One version of Deadpool killed the entire Marvel Universe, the writing staff of Marvel Comics, various fictional characters from classic literature, and finally an unspecified number of Deadpools from other dimensions.

6. Actor Ryan Reynolds portrayed Wade Wilson in "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" to critical failure. This was due to the director's misinterpretation of the character. Reynolds had to apparently "fight to the tooth and nail" to get 20th Century Fox to fund a Deadpool solo film, make it loyal to the source material, and stay the Hell away from it. He also stole one of the Deadpool suits after the film was finished.

7. Deadpool's video game career started with "Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2" where his sense of humor was used to full effect. He then had two more prominent appearances in "Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions" and "Marvel vs Capcom 3" before getting his own action-adventure game in 2013. That game was announced by an actor in a Deadpool costume during High Moon Studios conference at 2012's San Diego Comic Con.

8. Deadpool had a relationship with Death herself, only to have Thanos swipe her away. Currently, Deadpool is married to Shiklah, The Queen of The Undead.

9. Deadpool once had his personality "flipped on it's axis" and found inner peace and happiness. Referred to as "Zenpool", Wade helped the child-version of Apocalypse fight back his darker emotions and help save the world. After being reversed back, Deadpool claimed that was the happiest he'd even been.

10. According to Deadpool's current writer Gerry Duggan, Deadpool is pansexual. However, Deadpool's co-creator Fabian Nicieza claimed Deadpool is "every sex and no sex". Basically Deadpool is whatever sexuality readers want him to be.

11. Deadpool's healing factor is the strongest in the Marvel Universe. He has lived over 800 years in an alternate future, he can become immune to any drug after being exposed to it for a long period, it's very difficult for him to become intoxicated, he can regenerate limbs and organs, and can even recover from being vaporized if he is left with one cell. Knowing all this, Deadpool will use his bicep as a gun silencer and openly blow himself up with hand grenades to get the job done.

12. Deadpool sometimes wears a pair of yellow panties. These panties were part of Jean Grey's "Marvel Girl" costume. Did I mention Deadpool is a father?
