In 2016, Doom had even renounced his evil ways and became the new Iron Man and joined The Avengers.
2. Doctor Victor Von Doom is a Romani Latvarian. Latvaria is a fictional European country that Doom took over when he reached adulthood. As the sovereign ruler of Latvaria he has access to armies, endless wealth and resources, as well as the devotion of his people. While the rest of the world regards him as a villain, the people of Latvaria view him as a hero and their protector.
3. Doctor Doom is regarded as one of the most brilliant minds in the universe. His intelligence rivals that of Tony Stark and Reed Richards. His inventions include his armor which can rival the strength of The Hulk, and can block reality shifts, matter reconfigurations, and telepathy. The suit allows him to fly, form barriers, blast projectiles, manipulate energies, scan objects, and more. Doom has invented a time machine, objects that allow him to steal power from cosmic beings such as Galactus or The Silver Surfer, a matter-altering beam, dimensional portals, and teleportation devices. His most frequently used technology are his Doombots, robot duplicates of himself he can use as guards, substitutes, or representatives. These Doombots have some level of artificial intelligence, causing some to behave erratically and unlike Doctor Doom, believe themselves to actually be Doctor Doom, or even betray their programming. One rogue Doombot even joined a version of The Avengers called Avengers AI.
4. Doctor Doom has also learned from alien race called The Ovoids to send his consciousness into other beings through eye contact. Doom's willpower is even strong enough to resist the commands of The Purple Man, who can force people to do anything he commands.
5. Doctor Doom came in second in a competition to become Sorcerer Supreme, being outdone by Doctor Strange. However, Strange has admitted Doom could easily fill the role. Doom originally learned magic from Tibetan monks, but using time travel later trained under Morgan Le Fay. In exchange for his love, Morgan taught Doom most of his spells. Doctor Doom and Doctor Strange once teamed up to rescue the soul of Doom's mother Cynthia from the demon lord Mephisto, but failed.
6. Alongside Silver Surfer and Galactus, Doctor Doom has also stolen the powers of The Scarlet Witch, Wiccan, and The Beyond twice. The second time he drained The Beyonder's powers Doom became a God and rearranged the universe. Doom made every country on Earth into it's own reality based off of events like Civil War and Planet Hulk and Age of Ultron and so on. He assigned every "world" a Baron and a version of Thor to police it. He made Reed Richard's family his own family, turned Doctor Strange into his assistant, he turned The Human Torch into the sun, The Thing was turned into Doom's throne, and Mr. Fantastic was locked away.
7. Jack Kirby modeled Doctor Doom after Death with his cloak and hood. His metal suit is supposed to invoke a feelings of inhumanity and lack of mercy.
8. Doom's key characteristic is his pride. He hides his physical imperfection behind a mask, despite his imperfection being a small scar on his cheek. Doctor Doom has also been fooled out of Godliness by his own self-assurance. Victims of Doom have escaped death simply by peeking his curiosity. Doctor Doom was once tricked into unintentionally using God-like power to revive Earth's heroes over and over again because the circumstance of the heroes surviving him was suggested to him, causing his imagination to will them back to life.
9. DC Comics and Marvel Comic's first ever crossover was "Superman vs The Amazing Spider-Man" in 1976. In that book's sequel "Superman & Spider-Man" written in 1981, Doctor Doom and The Parasite were the main villains.
10. When Steve Englehart wrote The Fantastic Four in the 1980's, Doctor Doom was killed and his adopted son and heir Kristoff Vernard used Doom's technology to become the new Doctor Doom, even carrying all of Doom's intelligence over to himself. Walter Simonson later brought Doctor Doom back and had him kick Kristoff out, he also retconned that the version of Doctor Doom who was killed was a Doombot.
11. Doctor Doom was trapped in Hell for some time, this gave the U.S. government and SHIELD to place Latvarian-American Lucia Von Bardos as the new Prime Minister of Latvaria. She became an evil dictator and later a cyborg. Doctor Doom, meanwhile, managed to escape Hell when Thor's hammer Mjolnir fell through dimensions following the event "Ragnarok". The hammer literally created a hole in Hell that allowed Doctor Doom to hop through and back to Earth.
12. Victor Von Doom's first love was a girl named Valeria he grew up with. When they met again as adults Valeria was appalled by the man Doom had become. She avoided Doom for some time, but he eventually found her and claimed he'd give up magic in return for her love. She accepted, but was fooled when Doctor Doom gave her soul to netherdemons in return for more magical power. Doctor Doom has to sacrifice Valeria as she was "something of irreplaceable value". Valeria's skin became mystical leather armor for Doom to adorn. Doctor Doom would later go on to help deliver Susan Storm's second child and, in exchange for his help, Susan allowed Doom to name her new daughter. And thus Valeria Richards was born.
