Are you a fan of the original Terminator? We got One Dozen Deathstroke Facts locked and loaded.
1. Slade Wilson lied about his age and joined the U.S. Army when he was sixteen years old. He rose through the ranks all the way to Lieutenant Colonel and mastered various martial arts. He was trained in guerrilla warfare by his trainer Captain Adeline Kane. Kane fell in love with Wilson and they had two children. Slade retired, but was selected by the Army to be the test subject for their super-soldier serum. He used his enhanced abilities and combat skills to become the mercenary Deathstroke behind his family's back.
2. Enemies of Deathstroke discovered his secret identity and kidnapped his youngest son Joseph for revenge. Joseph's throat was slit, but he survived. Adeline-enraged by his secrets-shot Slade in the eye.
3. Slade has three children. Grant Wilson had become a mercenary named Ravager in hopes of being like Deathstroke (who he didn't know was his father), but died of a heart attack during his attempted assassination of The Teen Titans. It is because of Grant's death that Deathstroke swore revenge on The Teen Titans. His second son Joseph received superpowers as a result of being conceived after Slade got the super-soldier serum. Joseph used the alias Jericho and had the power to possess people's bodies, he became a member of The Teen Titans. Unlike Grant and Joseph, Rose Wilson is not the daughter of Adeline Kane, but is instead the child of Lillian Worth. Lillian was murdered by Deathstroke's half-brother and Rose was left in the care of The Teen Titans. However, Slade later agreed to take Rose on as his apprentice. She received a copy of his super-soldier serum and suffered from psychosis. To prove her loyalty she gouged out her own eye. Rose remained a Teen Titan, going by the name Ravager.
4. Slade's half-brother Wade DeFarge took the Ravager name after Grant's death and before his attack on Rose and her mother.
5. Slade Wilson first appeared in "The New Teen Titans #2" in 1980 as "Deathstroke The Terminator". The latter half of this name remained referenced throughout the years, but after the release of James Cameron's movie "The Terminator" in 1982, Slade was simply known as Deathstroke to avoid mockery.
6. Rob Liefeld notably based Deadpool off of Deathstroke when he created The Merc With The Mouth for "The New Mutants #98" in 1991.
7. Due to television ratings, Deathstroke was only referred to as "Slade" on "Teen Titans" the animated series. In "Young Justice" and "Beware The Batman" he is called Deathstroke.
8. In the TV show "Arrow" Oliver Queen is responsible for Slade's missing eye. However, in the world of "Injustice" it is implied that Oliver Queen killed Deathstroke.
9. Deathstroke is aided by his assistant/mentor William Wintergreen. Wintergreen is a former M15 and SAS soldier and acts as Slade's backup, medic, and moral compass.
10. In the crossover "Uncanny X-Men/Teen Titans" Deathstroke defeats Colossus in a one-on-one fight. In "Superman: American Alien" Deathstroke mistakes a young Clark Kent for his target Bruce Wayne and Clark simply flicks Slade off their boat and into the open sea. In "Flashpoint" Deathstroke is a pirate, in the "Superman/Batman" storyline "Mash-Up" he is fused with Doomsday to become Doomstroke, and in The Amalgam Universe Deathstroke is combined with Daredevil to become Dare The Terminator. Dare is a woman, however, named Slade Murdock. She is blind, wears an eyepatch over her mangled eye, had devil horns surgically attached to her forehead, and uses swords in combat.
11. In the story "The Judas Contract" from 1984, The Teen Titans are betrayed and given to H.I.V.E. by Terra who reveals she was working with Deathstroke. This story is infamous for establishing a sexual relationship between Slade and Terra, despite Terra being only fifteen years old.
12. After briefly absorbing The Speed Force he stole from Wally West II/Kid Flash, Slade had a religious reawakening and decided to become a superhero. He donned a white costume and formed his own Teen Titans called "The Defiance" with Kid Flash, Terra, Power Girl II, Rose/Ravager, and Jericho. He ended his superhero career after Power Girl committed suicide.
