Back in The Lime Light

Today we're talking about a certain green character who had a movie adaption so bad it made fanboys cringe at the mere showing of it's poster. And no, I don't mean Ang Lee's "Hulk". The next Pitch for The Panel Biter's DC Cinematic Universe is here with "Green Lantern". No evil clouds included.

In the depths of space there exists a group of intelligent beings known as The Guardians, these beings have dedicated their lives to securing justice throughout the galaxy. After their legion of killing machines became too much to handle, they harnessed the power of The Emotional Spectrum: energy manifestations of emotion itself. Using the green light of Willpower, they constructed Power Rings and assigned thousands of righteous men and women across the universe to defend sectors of space with these rings. Thus, The Green Lantern Corps was founded. Decades after it's creation, one of the GLC's greatest operatives-Abin Sur-died in combat and gave his ring to a human test pilot named Hal Jordan. Four years passed as Hal defended his home Coast City, trained on Planet Oa with his fellow Green Lanterns, and established a reputation among them. But a new threat brings old mistakes back from the junkyard as space pirate Kanjar Ro uses The Guardian's discarded Manhunters to enslave planets. Hal Jordan will need to unite his drill sergeant Kilowag, his apprentice Arisia Rabb, and his trainer-turned-partner Sinestro to defeat The Manhunters and Kanjar Ro.
Primarily taking place in space, the film would use Planet Oa and Planet Kalanor to tell it's story. This is done to separate the film from the previous Earth-based PBDC movies. Hal Jordan is shown to be confident, clever and stubborn, but has a tendency to underestimate a challenge. That's where Sinestro comes in, being much more cynical and collective. Kilowag would of course be a monster in combat, but a brother to his allies and Arisia would be the fresh rookie who doesn't understand the crookedness of the galaxy just yet. While Kanjar Ro has no superpowers, he has access to various weapons: his Energi-Rod gives him levitation, the Gamma-Gong stops targets in their tracks, and his Absorbascon necklace controls minds by inducing fear. All this without mentioning his crew of alien pirates and his Manhunter brigade. Green Lantern's costume would look like the picture above only without the mask, he's in space so his identity doesn't need to be hidden. The challenge for Hal isn't just defeating The Manhunter, but it would also be his struggle to overcome the fear that Kanjar Ro's Absorbascon puts in him. Fear that would recite memories of Hal's past and allow viewers to see his origins. Because he was a pilot, the light constructs Hal would create would be simple and not require much imagination. Because he has extremely strong willpower, his constructs would have endurance over complexity. Also, Hal Jordan would be played by Nathan Fillion, that guy deserves this role. At the end of the movie, after Kanjar Ro is locked away and his weapons are seized, Sinestro would quit The Green Lantern Corps after The Guardians refuse to reinitiate The Manhunter Program. In his retaliation, Sinestro takes the Absorbascon with him. After the credits we would see the torn remains of Kanjar Ro's ship and a small starfish-like alien escaping from the wreckage.
Focusing on science-fiction, fun action, and the trails of Willpower, "Green Lantern" offers a much different superhero concept by making the GLC more like space police than superheroes. Seeing how different Green Lanterns are from each other allows viewers to pick their favorites and want a ring themselves. The movie would be the redemption for Green Lantern and prove how much potential this character and this universe has. Thanks for reading!
Get set to get wet, "Aquaman" is next.
