Danny should have been funny. He was awkward, he was embarrassing, and I could not take him seriously when he was being serious. Mechum Dad and Mechum Son were fun to watch, but the female lead was generically supportive and didn't have a lot of dimension. Colleen was cool too, but her relationship with Danny was so typical and forced and I would respected this show a million times more if they didn't hook up. He didn't fight enough, he didn't punch enough. Like I was expecting a 70's Kung-Fu flick with light-hearted comedy, but because it was on Netflix it feels like the showrunners just wanted to make it dark like the other shows. The Hand are boring now, the business stuff should have been trimmed. Like, Danny can be the "people before money" kind of business man, but just less. The whole time I was watching I was waiting for it to get good and I was too bored to binge it. The best villains were the one-and-done martial artists Danny had to fight like the drunk and the spider girl and the twin fighters. Just felt lazy, like the people behind it knew what the show could have been but couldn't bother to make it the best that they could.

I liked the first half. Cottonmouth and Black Mariah were a great parallel from each other. Luke's growing concern for his neighborhood was excellent. There was a tasteful balance between racial debate and legit crime stories. And Misty Knight was a badass, loved her. Did not care for Luke and Claire's relationship, again that felt forced. I understand Luke is a ladies' man and has gotten with like four chicks by now, but I don't buy him being committed. He was cool enough to be Luke Cage though. I didn't mind the flashback stuff, but when he literally left the setting in the latter half of the show I was pretty disappointed. It kinda slowed down the plot. And Diamondhead coming in and basically taking Cottonmouth's place was really dumb. His armor is stupid too. He should have just been a strongarm, or saved for next season. Like they had all the right tools to make a different kind of Marvel show, but too many distractions and sudden interruptions kept the show from being more than a superhero show.

The Defenders

I was probably excited for this show more than the others because seeing the cast of heroes interact with each other was a lot of fun. And the show did decently well enough with the interactions, especially with Jess and Matt, and then Danny and Luke. It feels like a lot of future character stuff came out of this one. Too bad the villains were The Hand and they sucked. They have a council of four which is fine, but I wasn't fully invested because I only new two of them and one of them I hated. Elektra being a villain was cool, and Stick being the Nick Fury was pretty fun. Could not stand Iron Fist though. It feels like everything Iron Fist related-including The Hand-just dragged this show down. And he's made to be important which means we have to care about him even though his personality is telling us not to. Luke, Jess, and Matt all go about things the way they usually do, which is nice. Luke cares about his community, Jess is solving a case and being a detective, and Matt just wants The Hand wiped out and Elektra safe. The fights between the four were done pretty well. Kind of hope if they do this again it's Heroes For Hire, hopefully by then Danny Rand can be a likable character. Also no Kingpin? F#$k off!

Daredevil S2

You can probably guess I liked Season One more. I loved first half (feel like I'm repeating myself). Daredevil vs Punisher was what I came to see and what I'm happy with. The persecution of Frank Castle really should have been the rest of the season, but then Elektra and The Hand get shoved in and I'm supposed to care about Elektra's inner turmoil and poorly portrayed death. I was already full-tilt into Daredevil and Punisher's relationship, so don't pull me off of it for a character who deserved her own season. The stuff with Punisher in jail was awesome though, and I'm glad Foggy Nelson nutted up. But Karen never really impressed me, something else you'll hear a lot. Daredevil's suit is badass, just kind of upset The Hand were all exactly the same. Even Nobu was too similar. The backstory for Elektra was decent too. Really feels like the season could be have been cut in half.

Jessica Jones
One of the few shows that makes quite moments entertaining. Most of the characters were interesting to watch, the only person I really didn't like was the redheaded girl. Even watching Hogarth's marital issues spin out of control was entertaining. Jess herself is a blast. She drinks, she curses, she kicks ass, she's just a plain badass with a totally sympathetic backstory. It's tough to make female characters that deep and I'm glad this show managed to do it without overdoing it. Trish was a decent supporting character, Frank Simpson is pretty cool too from a concept standpoint. Really hope he reappears somewhere. The use of Luke Cage and Claire Temple were done great too, and the relationship between Luke and Jess was very tangible. And The Purple Man is one of the greatest villains in the MCU to date. Next to Kingpin he's the best Netflix villain. He has a sad backstory, but you don't forget he's an asshole. His powers are deadly, but they have limits. He's charming, but, again, still an asshole. Great sense of humor, pacing was good, limited action was solid, and the focus on drama and suspense was incredible. Such a great show, never get tired of it.

The Punisher

The violence in this show was the perfect middle ground for me. Between brutal and awesome. It's so cool to see something Punisher related that focuses on Frank Castle as a person and not an element of destruction. It has a military conspiracy vibe which is refreshing, the character interactions are wonderful especially between Frank and Microchip. Possibly the most human Frank Castle I've ever seen. Karen is still annoying. The fat, right-wing, phony soldier who talked a lot of crap got an ironic death, and the unabomber kid was interesting. He had the tragic backstory, he had the twisted sense of justice, and he had the edge over Punisher one would expect from a villain, but in the end he wasn't an important character and he didn't become one. But I kind of respect that kind of villain-building. Speaking of villains, five words: The. Only. Jigsaw. That. Matters. They actually turned the generic mob boss character into a cunning, manipulative, cold-blooded reflection of The Punisher. Just a well-rounded Punisher story with actual human development mixed in with some epic, bloody, worthy of the character fight scenes.

I don't have to say a lot do I? Matt's origin is done well, Matt's portrayal is done well, the interactions between him and Foggy are excellent. The parallel lives and moralities of Daredevil and The Kingpin remind us why these characters are so fascinating, and, yeah, Kingpin is freaking awesome. Can I get a minute to say that? His backstory is sad, his motives are understandable, he's a villain with a plot that, if you tilt your head, makes sense. He's 3-dimensional and probably the best MCU villain in general. Karen is annoying. Charlie Cox plays an excellent blind man. The choreography? Oh my God that was so good. The hallway fight? Dude. For real. Daredevil is so loyal, so well-made, and so entertaining I cannot just watch one episode, I have to watch as much of it I can by the end of the first episode!
Disagree? What's you ranking?
Thanks for reading!
