The Suit Makes The Man (Part 1)

Comic book characters may be powerful and complex, but it's not uncommon for them to play dress-up. Characters like Spider-Man and Batman have a decent closet full of alternate costumes, but more than anyone else billionaire Tony Stark has the deepest wardrobe. So today we'll be counting down The Panel Biter's Top 5 Iron Man Armors!

#5. The War Machine Armor

First appearing in "Iron Man #282, 1992" The War Machine armor may not have been an armor directly used by Tony Stark, but it's among his Iron Legion nonetheless. Before donning this suit, Tony's best friend James Rhodes actually took his place as Iron Man during Tony's battle with alcoholism. What was at first an emergency armor for Rhodes to use after Tony became Iron Man again actually became Rhodes' own superhero persona, War Machine. Along with the standard Iron Man armor setup, the War Machine is outfitted with a shoulder-mounted machine gun, a missile launcher, and rubber bullets for non-lethal missions. Just the pure military feel to the armor makes the suit brutally hardcore. FPS fans would eat this suit up.

#4. The Mark V (Briefcase) Armor

While this suit's only appearance was in 2010's "Iron Man 2" film, it's conceptually a combination between Stark's Silver Centurion armor and his various collapsable armors he's fitted into briefcases. While it isn't as powerful as any of Stark's other armors, it's an easy armor to use in a pinch. I like the red and silver color scheme and really just the design of this convenient suit. Plus, the way Tony dons it in "Iron Man 2" gives me Power Rangers flashbacks.

#3. The Hulkbuster Armor

Debuting in "Iron Man #304, 1994" Armor Model 14 was created by Tony Stark to battle The Incredible Hulk should he ever enter an uncontrollable rampage. This armor weighs 170 tons and carries a gamma detector to locate The Hulk, to actually operate it Tony dons another armor before entering this armor. It's basically the Russian Matryoshka Doll of Iron Man Armors, but bigger, stronger, and probably a pain to polish.

Please armor-up and continue on to Part 2!
